About Chinese Names

For Chinese citizens of the mainland, family names (surnames) are given first. Local or personal practice is respected for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and for overseas Chinese, regardless of nationality. For all Chinese with Western names, given names (first names) — as in the Western name — will come first. (Variations on this standard apply for published documents in periodicals or publications which subscribe to different standards.)
